Where Has the Summer Gone?

Yeesh…how is it August already? This summer has gone by crazy fast. The house deal from hell & two rentals didn’t help, I’m sure. Regardless, it has been smoking hot and beautiful here in Calgary lately. It’s probably one of the nicest summers we’ve had since I’ve lived here.

I am thanking my lucky stars that it cools off so nicely at night here because even though our new house has air conditioning…it doesn’t work. We’ve found quite a few hidden “features” at our new house that we need to fix. Thankfully most of them haven’t proved to be too expensive so we refuse to let it get us down. We’re still working to get everything settled. We need a few more pieces of furniture so we can fully unpack and we have a bit of A/V gear that needs to be installed. Over all, the house is fully functional, though, which is soooo nice.

Today we braved the heat to visit Inglewood’s Sunfest. It was fun and much less stressful than festivals I’ve been to in the past because I could WALK there. Yup, it makes things way easier. I ran into a friend or two while I was there & caught the Flash Mob. Overall it was a fun day though the fam was a bit worn out & tired.

Tomorrow we have friends coming over for dinner (Menu – Ribs, mac & cheese and summer veggie gratin). Evan is super excited because one of the families has 3 little boys that he can play with. Hopefully he isn’t too bossy so they actually want to play. While I know that he got much of the bossiness from me, it doesn’t make it any less annoying.
