What Have We Learned Today?

First things first….WE GOT OUR HOUSE….FINALLY!!!! We got the keys today and we move in tomorrow. Since Evan and Raweewan had never seen inside the house, we decided to visit even though we haven’t moved our stuff in yet.

Evan loved the house. We went UP the stairs and then we went DOWN the stairs. We ran in circles in the basement and we checked out all the closets. I went down stairs to unpack the few kitchen boxes we brought with us.

While unpacking I hear a little voice calling “Mama!” I went to the stairs and yelled “Where are you?” I heard a muffled “I’m in my room and I…..” I didn’t hear the rest but I knew where to look. I headed up the stairs to his bedroom on the 3rd floor. I tried the door….locked.

From the other side of the door, I heard a small voice say “Mama, I locked the door and now I can’t get out.” I tried his attached bathroom….also locked. The same small voice said “I locked that one too.”

*Sigh*

Remember, we hadn’t moved anything into the house yet other than a few boxes of cereal. We tried what we could to get in the door but nothing was working. Thankfully there is a corner store really close so Dewey ran there to buy something to help. He bought a little set of allen keys (I think) and he was able to pop the door open. Evan was amazingly calm through the whole thing and even believed me when I said “Well, I guess you’ll have to sleep here by yourself tonight!” He seemed pretty happy to escape, though.

As we left, I said “What have we learned today, Evan?”

“No more locking doors!” Here’s hoping he learned!
