I love this time of year. The days are ridiculously long, the sun is warm & fresh fruit and vegetables are finally available. We went with Eagle Creek CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) again this year. Our pickups started last week & I am super excited that they have a pickup at the Hillhurst/Sunnyside Market (and that they had room for me!).
Calgary has many great year-round markets but summer only markets have more heart & soul. If you live or work near this neighborhood, you should definitely check it out!
Now…for some pics of the deliciousness!
From our CSA share – garlic scapes. I like these in stir fry.
From our CSA – white & purple new potatoes. Delicious boiled with butter or cream & dill.
Strawberries from Eagle Creek. Small and full of flavor!
Definitely the most deliciousness I found….sticky buns from Sidewalk Citizen Bakery.
I love that my CSA share makes me branch out a bit from the veggies that I normally buy. We eat tons of carrots, cucumbers and bell peppers in our house. With our share, though, now we add swiss chard and garlic scapes to the mix.
Oh and before I forget, those sticky buns? Made by the best (IMO) baker in Calgary, Aviv Fried, of Sidewalk Citizen bakery. His baking is carried at many coffeehouses and restaurants in town & you can visit his bakery on Fridays & Saturdays as well.

Those are some tasty looking cinnamon buns! Next time I am in #yyc I will have to stop at that bakery!
They are so delicious! Almost wish I hadn’t shown them to Evan so I could eat them all myself. Probably shouldn’t, though, so maybe it’s a good thing.
Those strawberries look so fresh.
