Ok…so I know this isn’t like my last Calgary Cool post but it was in Calgary & it was cool so…..yeah. My friend Shawna called to ask if Dewey and I would like to go to the Rouge & White Garden Party at Rouge in Inglewood to celebrate her husband Shawn’s birthday. It only took me a minute on Google to say “Hells to the Yes!” The Rouge & White Garden Party was a fundraiser for the Hotchkiss Brain Institute hosted by the famous Rouge Restaurant.
With an upscale circus theme, the garden had been transformed into a rouge and white big top.
Complete with a juggling stilt-walker!
We even dressed the part! Here’s me & Shawna. We’re supposedly vamping but I just look drunk. Maybe it was the Sangria?
Oh & did I mention the food? Many chef elites were in attendance and cooking for the crowd. Since I wasn’t there in an official capacity (as a blogger) and since I loved the sangria…I’m a bit sketchy on the details. What I do know is that the food was DIVINE.
Rouge being the host restaurant had lots of passed appies to try. So yummy! Here is Dewey, Shawna & Shawn giving them a try.
One of my favorites….corn dogs made from Turkey mortadella from Charcut. YUMMMMMMMMYYYYY!!!!!
But…my #1 fave was a vegetarian dish….pesto and a cherry tomato topped with grilled cheese. OMG…these were so good. I think I *may* have eaten 3 or 4.
Here’s my lovely friend Julie (food blogger, television personality, writer, etc) hamming it up with the chef behind the wonderful tomato dish above…Michael Allemeier!
To say the least, we had a FABULOUS time. Sometimes these events pass by without me noticing but I will definitely keep a better look out. It was great to see what amazing food Calgary can produce & to catch up with some local food personalities.
