Getting What You Give…especially in marriage

by Merry on January 21, 2012

I saw a great quote on Twitter today:

by @CouplesTruth

“Everyones who is involved in a relationship remember you only get what you give; life, friends, family; especially with your significant other……”

You know…that is so true.  I must admit that I love being online.  I tweet, blog, facebook, pin, etc because it’s fun.  I also read blogs and articles online.  Often at night, I am up in my room watching TV and blogging while Dewey is playing guitar or watching a different show (hello…Ice Pilots) downstairs.  While we’re both okay with this usually….it’s probably not the best plan long term.

So, I’ve decided to make a conscious effort to turn off the computer and hang out with my hubby.  I must like him…I married him for goodness sakes!  So, this is it for my post tonight because I’m going to watch a movie with my husband.  Here’s hoping it’s better than the movie we watched last night….Netflix has some REALLY sucky movies!

So…how do you make sure that you don’t take your marriage for granted?

That’s what we try to do Saturday night. We play goofy games on Wii or whatever…you instantly feel closer after a couple hours of laughing together :) Have fun!

Hubby and I are best buds. And we don’t have a lot of babysitting available to us.

We try to take turns with what we do around here. We have chores (it’s an acreage); we change out drinks, games, Wii, movies, X country skiing — whatever.

Get back to your Man. He matters a lot.

(Just as you do. Make sure you fill your cup too.)

I like to make sure hubby kisses me first when he gets home. That and tossing a dodgeball :)

At times Mike and I have vastly different tastes in TV shows, so I usually laptop while he’s watching those types of shows that don’t interest me. I will though stay in the same room with him so we can chat while engaged in our own activities… does that count?

Probably the only great thing about mine working night shifts a couple times per week: I can catch up on my blogging! And he often works weekends too…..so, I can do my posts for the week on Friday, Saturday, and/or Sunday night. Yes, exciting weekend life I live. LOL.
The weekends he is here, we do something together: movie, Wii, card game, or yes, sometimes we are each happily doing our own thing.
we usually “meet up” later ;)
