I am going to get fired from being in charge of Christmas around our house. Last year there were a few issues with remembering to move Kevin the elf (which I mentioned here) but nothing like this year. We have forgotten to move him 3 times so far. That doesn’t sound so bad until you remember that it is the 8th of December. That’s right, boys and girls, I have forgotten it almost 35% of the time. Today was one of those days.
While in a meeting at work, I messaged Dewey to see if he had moved the elf like I asked him to. I got an “oh crap” message back. A quick call to our nanny meant that the elf got moved while Evan was at preschool. Thankfully Evan didn’t notice. Phew!
When we got home, Dewey told me that Evan totally busted his Christmas present hiding. We bought Evan a Zipfy a few weeks ago & we left it in Dewey’s trunk to hide it. Today Dewey opened the trunk to put Evan’s snow shovel in it, totally forgetting about the Zipfy. Evan said “Awesome! You bought me one of THOSE???!!!!” Dewey said “Nope, that’s for a kid without toys for Christmas” and slammed the trunk. Doh!
Did I mention that I have bought a grand total of 4 Christmas presents? Yep. Oh well, things are going to change! This weekend I am going to bite the bullet and brave the malls. I have to buy for our family and the adopt-a-family for my work team.
I’m turning this Christmas #FAIL boat around.
Really….I swear!

I’ve found malls to be quite light during the weeknights still…not too sure about the weekends. Good luck!
