What’s Cooking Wednesday – Cheesy Bacon Ranch Pull Apart Bread

by Merry on October 19, 2011

I often have events in the evenings after work. I know you all think I cook all the time, but I tend to take store bought appies to these events. There’s no way I can get home, make something & get to an event by 6:30! Yesterday, I decided to try to find something, anything that I could make. Pinterest to the rescue!

Cheesy Bacon Ranch Pull Apart Bread

Cheesy Bacon Ranch Pull Apart Bread
Adapted from this recipe from Plain Chicken

1 round loaf of sourdough bread

1 200g bag of shredded cheddar cheese (2 cups)

1 85g bag of real bacon bits (~ 3/4 of a cup)

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 Tbsp Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix (powder)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Cut bread in strips both ways to make little squares, but leave the bottom uncut to hold the whole thing together.  Push cheese shreds and bacon between all the cuts in the bread.

Mix dressing mix into the melted butter.  Pour over the bread.  Wrap bread in aluminum foil.

Bake for 15 minutes.  Uncover & bake another 10 minutes.  Serve hot.

Recipe Notes: So easy and oh so good.  I’m pretty sure that this is NOT good for you but everyone loved it.  I put a small bowl of pizza sauce beside it & though it was good, it wasn’t essential.

Don’t forget to head over to Shan’s to see what else is cooking this Wednesday.
