Have You Played Today? #KinderMom

by Merry on October 6, 2011

Well, I’m back talking about taking time to play with the lovely people over at Kinder.  Evan has had a blast exploring all the new toys in Kinder Canada‘s 2011 Toy Line. I think his absolute favorite toy is the puppy water squirter.  He LOVES it. (Don’t forget to enter their contest to win one of 10 Kinder gift baskets worth $200 each!)

So…how do we take time to play at our house?  Honestly….it’s hard.  Some nights I don’t get home until supper time and then I have to get dinner on the table.  Next thing you know it’s bedtime & the evening is done.  Even with such a hectic schedule, though, I try to take some time….even if it’s just a few minutes….to focus on Evan.

Craft supplies!

Some nights we’ll do crafts together.  We keep a TON of craft supplies on hand so that we can make something cool any time.  A favorite lately has been window clings.  I am making a run to the dollar store tomorrow to buy more glue so that we can make more.  Other times we run around and around the living room playing chase or Evan builds a WipeOut type obstacle course for me to maneuver.  The activity doesn’t really seem to matter, Evan just loves the attention.

Tonight we didn’t make crafts and we didn’t run amok in the living room.  It was more of a low key night so we snuggled into his bunk to read books.  We read three “top shelf” books (we keep the longer books on the top shelves and the shorter board books lower so that he can read to himself) and snuggled.  When I kissed him goodnight & turned out the light he yelled “Mama?”  I said “Yes?” and he said “Thank you!”  My heart melted into a little puddle and I remembered that THIS is why I always make time to focus on him.  THIS.
