What’s Cooking Wednesday – Toni’s Taco Dip

by Merry on April 24, 2008

This is a great party dip that everyone will love. This recipe was given to me by a friend’s wife years ago. Hopefully she won’t mind that I shared as I doubt anyone who reads this knows her or will be attending any parties where she will be. :)

Toni’s Taco Dip

8 oz cream cheese, softened

8 oz sour cream

3/4 cup mayonaise

1 lb ground beef

8 oz can tomato sauce

1 packet taco seasoning

4 cups shredded lettuce

1 medium green pepper, diced

2 medium tomatoes, diced

8 oz shredded cheddar cheese

tortilla chips

Beat the cream cheese, sour cream and mayo in a small bowl until smooth. Spread on a large platter or pizza pan and refrigerate for 1 hour. Brown ground beef in a skillet; drain. Add taco seasoning and tomato sauce to the meat. Cook and stir for 5 minutes. Cool completely. Spread over cream cheese layer. Just before serving, layer on the lettuce, green pepper, tomato & cheese. Serve with tortilla chips. Makes 16-20 servings

Recipe Notes: This was a big hit at Erin’s bridal shower. I used light cream cheese, light sour cream and light mayo.

Mmmmm, Merry this is one of my favourites. Although I admit I’ve never had it with ground beef. I usually skip that step. I might have to give that a try.
